For anyone that parents a young athlete, balancing school, extra curricular activities and physical activities can be a never ending task. Here are three great reasons to make sure your kids get at least an hour of physical activity each day.
1. Weight Management
Physical activity and eating habits play a huge role in weight management starting at youth ages. In the United States, 19.7% of our youth is obese. Playing outside, dancing, getting involved in some sports: there are so many ways to keep kids active and going.
Honestly, it doesn't have to be anything too serious for kids to get moving, especially at their age. Finding the things they love to do that will get them moving like bike riding or any fun activity.
2. Improves Brain Health
Physical activity also plays a huge role in a kid mentally. After enjoying good physical activity, it could make them feel better about themselves and keep them thinking positively. It also helps improve the cognitive thinking of youth from the age of 6 to 13, can be a big factor of reducing anxiety and depression, and helps with good sleep. Talk about taking pressure off the parents at bedtime!
3. Minimizing Future Health Problems
Physical inactivity has been tested to lead to better chances of diabetes, obesity, cancer and other scary health problems. I know it is impossible to avoid most of these things in life but getting a head start on physical fitness can definitely minimize it tremendously. Many kids these days do not get the minimum amount of physical fitness because of all the new technology. It comes down to us (the adults) as parents, coaches, teachers and guardians to set screen time limits and get the kids outside and playing as much as possible.
We all want the best for the youth because they are the future of this world. Great physical activities lead to great minds which also leads to better world for the future.
Happy Playing!
