Family Fun Runs

The activity of running is a simple and fun one that you and your children can do together to get active. Usually, the events are held in conjunction with 5k or 10k races on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Training for these events is  a wonderful way to build up fitness while exploring local trails. Most family fun runs are around one mile long.

Skateboarding And Roller Sports

There are many benefits to playing roller sports, such as the development of balance and coordination. Whatever your choice of a skateboard, roller skates, rollerblades, or scooter might be, you and the kids can get out together and practice these innumerable skills together. The best skate surfaces are flat and smooth, so if you're looking for a good surface to skate on, take a look at your local parks.

Dance

The best dancer in the world doesn't have to be the best dancer in the world to get enjoyment from following a dance routine. All you need is a place to dance in and music with a good beat. I have found the best way to dance as a family is to pull out Just Dance and have a friendly competition! Introducing the family to dance might just inspire kids and adults to take up classes.

Miniature Golf Or Driving Range

It is possible to have a lot of fun while playing miniature golf. It can be beneficial to children in a number of ways, including concentration and focus, improved coordination, learning to follow rules and respecting others on the course. It is possible to find a driving range in the area that you are interested in if you would like a more advanced experience. Many golf clubs even have a driving range open to the public, regardless of whether they are members or not.  Regardless of your skills, you can always enjoy a stop at Top Golf for some target practice!

Pickleball

Pickleball would be an excellent choice for beginners who are seeking a lightweight sport that is easy to learn, as the rules are quite simple and easy to understand. No matter your age or experience level, you can enjoy playing pickleball. Many local rec centers offer drop in times.  In addition, many outdoor tennis courts have been striped with pickleball lines.  Outdoor courts require you to bring your own equipment. If you and your kids really start to enjoy it you may want to look at how to choose a pickleball paddle.

Yoga

As a family, yoga is great to try because it doesn't require much space or equipment. In addition to holding poses, meditation, and controlled breathing, you can try various styles of yoga with varying degrees of difficulty. When you know a couple of poses, you can practice yoga anywhere. Yoga is an excellent form of exercise, flexibility, or just relaxing. Yoga sessions for families can be found locally and online for free.

Do Your Own Day Of Sports

Although it might take a bit more planning, the kids can be entertained throughout the day with lots of different activities and games. Make games, races, and challenges out of anything you have around the house. Try egg and spoon races, ball in the bucket races, running races, or even hula hoop races if you have them. Afterwards, give them stickers or well-done cards, or you could bake some treats for celebration.

There are many ways that you can get your kids involved in sports without it feeling like they are forced. The key is to make sure it is a fun and interesting activity. What other sports that could be included in this list?
