Is the overwhelming amount of candy on Halloween leaving you dreading Trick-or-Treating?!? We love using our costumes more than once - attending trunk-or-treats, Halloween parties, and of course embarking on a night of trick-or-treating in our neighborhood. However, with three active trick-or-treaters the quantity of candy that returns to the house is daunting. This year, we are doing our research and are looking forward to passing out non-candy treats on Halloween. Here are 28 Non-Candy Halloween Treats!
When you decide to hand out non-candy treats, be sure to have a variety of items to hand out to the different ages and personalities that come to the door. Having items that excite preschoolers and middle schoolers will keep Halloween night stress free.
First, set expectations about how much candy you find acceptable to consume each day as well as a cut off date for candy donations. Many schools collect Halloween candy a week or two after Halloween. If you are ready to be done with your candy before the drive or your school doesn't have one, consider donating your candy to Operation Gratitude. Individuals and organizations can collect extra Halloween candy and send it to troops overseas.
The best experts about what kids want on Halloween are... our kids! Ask your kids to help you pick out non-candy Halloween treats. Encourage them to grab non-candy treats as they are available during your trick and trunk-or-treat events. Teach kids about the importance of moderation. And, of course, let them indulge a bit on Halloween night!
