Tell me about yourself.
I love the sport of gymnastics! I coach a little bit of everything and enjoy it all. I love the power of positive coaching and seeing a child’s self-esteem improve over the course of a class. In addition to coaching, I love learning and have an addiction to reading, mostly non-fiction. I also enjoy spending time with my family. I have three nieces and two nephews and am very fortunate to get to be a part of their lives on a weekly basis.
Who is someone that helped you become the person you are today?
I can't narrow it down to one person, there are a lot of people who have helped me to become the person I am today. My parents are at the top of my list. They have always encouraged me to pursue my passion of coaching and to be myself. They have supported my career from the beginning. My friend Jeryka, also played a huge role in making me who I am today. She gets credit for giving me the confidence to pursue coaching as a career. I had a originally planned to teach elementary school and coach part time. She told me repeatedly that I could be successful coaching full time. My athletes have also made me who I am. I started coaching at a very young age, 14, and I grow as a person and a coach with each new group of athletes I have the opportunity to coach. Morgan also makes the list of people who have made me who I am. When she hired me she trusted me pretty instantly to be a part of Pinnacle's team. She encourages me on a daily basis and challenges me to become a better version of myself.
How does coaching play a role in your every day life?
Coaching does not just play a role in my every day life, coaching is my every day life. I plan my life around coaching. I love being at the gym and never like to miss a day of coaching. I don't consider coaching a job. I consider it a passion (possibly an obsession). Coaching has provided me with some of my best friends, best memories, and best life experiences.
What is something you would love to be able to do more of?
