I Love Fall

Written by mochynka | Sep 18, 2014 7:37:34 PM

I never knew it growing up.  Or maybe it just changed as an adult, especially as a mom.  But, I LOVE FALL!  I love the change in weather, football Sundays, the leaves changing colors, helping my kids decide what they are going to be for Halloween, and the build up of the holidays to follow.

This year, I took my oldest son shopping to get a couple of additional items for my Halloween mantel.  He made the decision quickly by adding the bride and groom vampire candlesticks.  However, while we were there, I started seeing wreaths, centerpieces, and more fall decorations that were drawing me in.  After examining the $70 price tag, I decided to take it upon myself to build my own wreath.

When I get an idea in my head, it drives me crazy until I complete it.  So this week, I took my daughter with me to Hobby Lobby while my sons were at school.  After two trips to the bathroom (because when a 21 month old says she has to potty, you go!) and countless trips down the aisles (I am not normally a crafty person), I ventured home to construct my wreath.

I used:

2 wreaths wound together with brown florist wire

Around 15 picks of berries, round berries with leaves, some glass balls that looked pretty

3 picks of feathers

3 glitzy pumpkins

3 pine cones

1 package paper leaves

I started with the berry picks and placed three of them equal distance apart around the wreath.  Then I continued adding picks, feathers, and a pumpkin until each 1/3 was complete, and so was my wreath.

My goal this weekend is to complete one for the gym to spread a little fall cheer!
