Gymnastics Helps Your Child Succeed In School

A fellow gym owner: Anne Josephson, came across a Harvard School of Education article that evaluated the characteristics that predicted a student’s future academic success.  The answer?

GRIT

Grit’s synonyms include:

  • Courage
  • Bravery
  • Strength of character
  • Nerve
  • Toughness
  • Determination
  • Tenacity
  • Perseverance
  • Endurance

In other word’s?  Gymnastics.   Simply put, each of these pillars can be seen in our gymnastics classes, whether starting at the preschool level or training as a level 10. Gymnastics takes courage.  Trying a new skill for the first time requires a special strength.  Something that bravery and nerve together create.

And when a gymnast falls down?  She is tough.  Failure is not an option.  A gymnast is determined to try again until she is successful. A gymnast attacks her skills again and again with tenacity.  A gymnast must endure. Gymnastics is not easily learned and it takes time, patience, and perseverance to reach one’s goals.

Next time you bring your child to gymnastics, watch as they not only improve at gymnastics, but learn a skill set that prepares them for their future academic career.

“Kasslynn cannot live without her coaches and these classes.  LOL.  I’m only halfway kidding.  She has always been a sweetheart, but this team has really helped her focus and we have seen huge improvements in her ability to complete schoolwork and finish chores at home.” – Blue Team Development Parent
